Why Are Japanese People So Quiet?

Japanese people like to blend in while in a public space or on public transport. Talking on cell phones is frowned upon in trains, buses, or subway. Shouting, loud conversation and raucous laughter is considered rude, so please talk quietly especially at shrines and temples, and be mindful of other people around you.
